Dr. Bowen will discuss a new theoretical framework – based on autonomous moral reasoning – for managing crisis in an ethical way. Her research was recently published in “Crisis Communication,” a 2020 book by Finn Frandsen and Winni Johansen, Danish world-class researchers in organizational crisis, crisis management and crisis communication. She will also share findings of her newest research!

About the Presenter:
Shannon Bowen, Ph.D., is a professor at the University of South Carolina in the College of Information and Communications. She is an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the Arthur W. Page Society, which is a leading professional association for senior public relations and corporate communications executives and educators. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the International Public Relations Research Conference, where innovative research in PR is presented. Before returning home to South Carolina, Dr. Bowen was tenured in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Her research focuses on ethical decision making within the highest levels of organizations. She teaches and researches ethics across corporations, pharmaceutical firms, government entities and the public relations industry.
