Mariana. is a strategic initiatives marketing specialist at the University of Arizona’s Office of Research and Partnerships, where she supports strategic communications and marketing for research and partnership initiatives, with a focus on making complex interdisciplinary research accessible to broad audiences. She brings 15+ years of experience across higher education, nonprofit, corporate, media and agency environments.
Prior to her current role, Mariana served as marketing and communications specialist for the Institute for Computation and Data-Enabled Insight (ICDI), supporting the institute’s award-winning Data Connects Us campaign and its AI Update newsletter. This work earned five PRSA Impact Awards in 2024, including Best in Show.
Mariana’s background includes leading marketing and communications at Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse, where she developed community-centric fundraising communications and digital campaigns that helped exceed a $1.5M goal in 2020 and $2M in FY2022. Earlier in her career, she worked in corporate community engagement at Intuit (TurboTax), in agency account management at DDB Bolivia, in media monitoring and PR support at Tironi & Asociados Bolivia and in journalism and photography for a Bolivian publication.
Mariana holds a Graduate Certificate in Digital Marketing from Georgetown University, a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Marketing and a B.S. in Social Communications Science from the Catholic University of Bolivia. Her professional development includes certifications in digital marketing (AMA/DMI), Google Digital Garage, Diversify Social Media and an AI prompting certificate completed in 2024.
