2023 Entry Categories

The annual PRSA Southern Arizona IMPACT Awards celebrate the best PR, marketing, and communications projects and programs from the past year, honoring the outstanding accomplishments and ingenuity of practitioners in the Southern Arizona community. Projects may be submitted to one or more of the following IMPACT Award categories:  

 

1. Written Publication 

A published piece of writing from a print or digital periodical, magazine, or another news source. The submitted piece can be an op-ed, editorial, column, or feature story. Please submit a PDF file of the published piece. 

 

2. Annual Report 

A publication that reports an organization’s annual performance. Please submit a PDF file of the Annual Report. 

 

3. Marketing Campaign or Program (select sub-category): 

A program designed to introduce, create brand awareness, enhance recognition, publicize, or promote. Submitted campaigns and programs may be digital, print, or integrated into the structure. Please submit individual PDF files for print/digital communications, MP3 files for audio elements, and MWV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for video elements.  

 

3a. General Marketing Communications 

A program or suite of communications designed to introduce, publicize, promote, or enhance brand awareness for a company, product, service, or idea.  

 

3b. Government/Public Affairs Communications 

A program or suite of communications that describes an organization’s position to a government entity or other public audience, or that seeks to influence a policy or governmental decision-making process.  

 

3c. Multicultural Communications 

A program or suite of communications strategically targeted toward a specific cultural group.  

 

3d. Internal Communications 

A program or suite of communications created to improve internal relations in an organization.  

 

3e. Social Media Communications 

A program or suite of communications designed to communicate via social media platforms. Campaigns can include organic posts, influencer strategies and content, and/or social advertising.  

 

4. Creative Collateral (Single Deliverable) 

A project or piece of communication consisting of a single, one-time deliverable such as a calendar, poster, bill stuffer, logo design, ad, brochure, or multimedia piece (video, podcast, webinar, etc.).  

 

5. Media Placement 

Media relations efforts focused on gaining publicity, enhancing overall awareness, providing education/professional development, or other media relations work. This can include print, broadcast or online placement. Must include press clippings to show the media placement.  

 

6. Public Relations Communications or Program (select sub-category): 

A deliverable or series of deliverables designed to affect an organization’s overall relations with its publics or key elements of its publics. Please submit individual PDF files of print/digital communications, MP3 files for audio elements, and MWV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for video elements.  

 

6a. News/Media Release or Public Service Announcement 

A news release or PSA that results in placements and/or coverage of your news or event. Include a PDF file of the release or PSA in addition to PDF files of any clippings, MP3 files of any audio coverage, and WMV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for any video coverage.  

 

6b. Media/Press Kit or Online Newsroom 

A pre-packaged set of promotional materials for distribution to members of the media. Provide PDF files of all included materials (including news releases, photos, and fact sheets) or a URL/ hyperlink to an online newsroom.  

 

6c. Crisis Communications 

A planned and/or executed implementation of a communications strategy in response to an organizational crisis. Submissions may consist of planning documents or realized placements. Please include a PDF file of a crisis communication plan and/or individual PDF files of any realized placements.  

 

6d. Community Relations 

A community relations or Corporate Social Responsibility program designed to improve relations with publics or organizations in communities where the sponsoring organization has an interest, need, or opportunity. Please submit individual PDF files of print/digital communications, MP3 files for audio elements, and MWV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for video elements.  

 

7. Special Events and Observances 

A one-time program of limited duration designed to generate awareness with key audiences such as product launches, openings, celebrations, premieres, or other special events. Please submit individual PDF files of print/digital communications, MP3 files for audio elements, and MWV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for video elements.  

 

8. Branding 

A program or suite of deliverables created to support the launch, refresh, or rebrand of a company or product’s brand identity system. Please submit PDF files of print or digital designs.  

 

9. Newsletter 

A publication designed, written, and published periodically to provide timely information to target audiences while supporting an organization’s overall communications objectives. Newsletters may be print or digital. Please submit PDF files of at least three consecutive issues.  

 

10. Blog 

An online journal or informational website dedicated to the achievement of a PR or marketing strategy or goal. Please submit PDF files of at least three consecutive original articles and a link to the blog.  

 

11. Website 

A website designed and developed to communicate and support a brand, company, idea, product, or service. Please provide a URL or link to the website.  

 

12. Student Project 

A project completed for a public relations or marketing course as an undergraduate or graduate student. Projects must represent a fully-developed project, such as a press kit, campaign proposal, special event proposal, etc. Please submit PDF files of documents and designs, MP3 or WAV files for any audio elements, and MWV files or YouTube/Vimeo links for any video elements.  

 

Practitioner AWARDS  

 

PR Pro of the Year - PR Pro of the Year Award honors excellence in public relations and those who serve as a role model to staff and practitioners entering the field. 

​

Media Person of the Year - This award is presented to a journalist, editor, producer, or other media professional for an Arizona-based media outlet who has demonstrated a dedication to their craft by reporting with integrity and a focus on the public interest. 

​

PR Rookie of the Year - This annual award recognizes an undergraduate student or new professional who demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of and commitment to the public relations profession. 

​

Career Impact - The Career Impact Award isn't doled out every year. Rather, it's saved for those recipients who truly distinguish themselves, through their body of work, their impact on the profession, and their dedication to PRSA
